August 24-26 Reading and Leeds Festival (U.K.)
September 1-3 Bumbershoot link is to last year's lineup but Rumor is that Kanye West is headlining again. (Washington State)

I have some downtime in August, so I'd love to start at the Eclipse Festival in Montreal end at Bumbershoot in WA and then head home.

I would like for this list to be as comprehensive as possible, so please let me know (and include a link) about festivals left off this list, no matter where they are in the world. Thanks!

Also please let me know if the Pixies or Garbage are playing near you, so I can figure out where I can see them play again. Thanks!

  1. The Burning Man always starts the last Monday in August (27th) ends on labor day. (Sept 3) It is in the Black Rock Desert near Gerlack NV. 100's of events in art, music, dance, clubs, and many unusual things. Everyone in encouraged to offer your artistic energies and to bring things to give away. Anyone who wants to develop a camp and offer events can do it.

Also mention the Rainbow Gathering which is the first 7 days in July Come on June 29 or 30 since it starts on the weekend. FREE (I suggest you do donate to the Magic Hat,pays for food, water system, medical expenses, clean up, reseed and repair any damage to the land, legal expenses). Very alternative. Unlike the Burning Man, they request NO ALCOHOL. LIKE BURNING MAN YOU ARE ENCOURAGED TO SET UP ANY TYPE OF SERVICE PROGRAM OR CAMP.
